Companies fined in Lithuania over gambling promotion

Top Sport and Amber Gaming have again been issued fines by Lithuania’s gaming watchdog for breaching rules on promotion of gambling in the country.

Both companies were found to be in breach of the Lithuanian Gambling Act.

The fines were issued by the Gaming Control Authority of Lithuania.

Top Sport was fined €25,000 for having, in August 2022, emailed its customers with links and information on its gambling services. This was deemed by the operator as a form of promotion, which is in breach of the law.

The GSA also fined Amber Gaming €6,000 for a similar breach. The company, which operates the 7bet brand, had sent out emails in June and August with information on how to create account passwords. The emails also included banners promoting the brand.

The rulings are not final and may be appealed.

Both Top Sport and Amber Gaming had previously been fined by the Lithuanian regulator.

Gambling in Lithuania is regulated by the Gaming Control Authority, which is part of the Ministry of Finance.

The promotion of gambling activities is regulated by the Law on Gambling and is subject to certain restrictions. The main aim of these restrictions is to prevent gambling from being advertised in a manner that is misleading, harmful, or directed at minors.
