Danish Sept. gambling revenue mostly lower year-on-year

Figures from Denmark’s gambling industry show gross gambling revenue from most segments was lower in September from the same month the prior year.?

Sports betting, including horse racing, was flat at DKK214 million ($29 million) for the month, while in the first nine-months the vertical generated revenue of DKK4.1 billion, also flat on the prior year, according to figures released by the market regulator.

Online casinos were the bright spot, gaining 14 percent year-on-year and also edging higher from the prior month, with revenue of DKK237 million.?

For the first nine months, online gambling has seen an 8.1 percent increase to DKK4.55 billion.?

Slot machine revenue fell from DKK110 million to DKK99 million, but is almost 11 percent higher in the year to end-September, with revenue of DKK1.48 billion, while the country’s land-based casinos recorded revenue of DKK34 million, down a million from the prior year.

In the nine-month period, casino revenue however has jumped 29 percent as Covid restrictions have eased.

The Danish Gambling Authority, regulates the industry and provides monthly statistics on the four regulated verticals with a month’s lag.?
